Hi John (and Bonnie):

GeorgeYando Thanks for your note.  Had a good trip back, no problems at the border getting the sideboard into Canada (although the border security officer who questioned us wondered why I would travel so far from home to build something like that – “Couldn’t  you do that here in Canada?”  I replied, “I wanted an opportunity to study under one of America’s premier woodworking masters!”   He said to me, “Must be a good teacher; that’s a stunning piece of furniture!”

Haven’t finished it yet (took a “time out “ to help our son finish up some home renovations that he wanted to get done before the wedding in early July).  The sideboard’s currently sitting in his garage where I’m planning to finish it, as I’m getting ready to tear mine own garage down to put up the shop.  Several people stop in to our son’s since we got back and Geordie has had to show off the piece.  All who have seen it have been most impressed with it.  I’m looking forward to getting it finished and home to the dining room.  Will send you pictures when it’s done.

By the way, I bought the Festool rotary sander and dust collector but haven’t had a chance to put it to work on the sideboard. The sander has been busy stripping and prepping our son’s kitchen cabinets prior to refinishing – he just loves it – and so do!

Beth says “Hi” and thanks again for the cookies, they made the trip home REALLY pleasant!  She’s busy, happy, and wishes you both well.

Thanks again for your thoughts of us.  We have lots of great memories of the trip and of our time together.  I will have to give some serious consideration to coming back and doing the rocker project.

Will stay in touch.

Blessings!

George Yando
